Deputy Minister Awaits Ruling on Exam Cheat Salary Recovery
Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Liangprasit said the government is preparing to reclaim salaries and benefits from nearly 4,000 people who cheated on local government recruitment exams. The process hinges on a pending Council of State ruling and the NACC's investigation, which is expected to wrap up in November. Authorities have already submitted suspect data to the Civil Service Commission for blacklisting.
Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Liangprasit, speaking in Nong Khai on November 2, 2026, said the government is waiting for the Council of State to advise whether it can immediately recover salaries and benefits from those who cheated on local government exams, or must wait until the NACC finishes its investigation. The Central Civil Service Committee has tasked the Department of Local Administration Promotion with seeking the Council of State's guidance to ready the recovery process. Once the NACC completes its probe and issues prosecution orders, everyone implicated must repay all compensation received, as their appointments are deemed invalid from the start. Worasit noted the government has already forwarded data on nearly 4,000 suspects to the Civil Service Commission for blacklisting, even before NACC prosecution orders. The NACC is expected to conclude its investigation this November. Each suspect received roughly 15,000–16,000 baht per month, but the total amount has not yet been tallied.
