Real Zaragoza Goalkeeper Loses Control, Punches Opponent in Face Despite Already Being Red Carded (Video)
Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Estebán Andrada punched Huesca captain Jorge Pulido in the face during injury time despite already being sent off with a red card, triggering additional ejections and a broader brawl between both teams.
Estebán Andrada, goalkeeper for Real Zaragoza in Spain's Segunda Division, lost his temper and charged at Jorge Pulido, captain of Huesca, punching him in the face despite already being sent off with a red card.
The incident happened during injury time. Andrada, an Argentine international goalkeeper, was dismissed for receiving a second yellow card after pushing Pulido. Rather than leaving the pitch, he instead charged forward in a fierce assault on the Huesca captain's face.
The altercation escalated into a broader confrontation involving players from both teams, resulting in red cards for Dani Giménez, Huesca's goalkeeper, and Dani Tasende of Zaragoza. Huesca went on to win the match 1-0, extending their points to 36 and holding 19th place in the relegation zone, while Zaragoza remained at 35 points in 21st place, the bottom of the table.
After the match, Andrada issued an apology, saying he lost control and would accept whatever disciplinary action follows. "This is why images like these, so regrettable, should never happen. The truth is I'm very sorry about what occurred," Andrada stated.
Zaragoza issued a statement strongly condemning the incident and confirming they will take appropriate disciplinary measures. "We witnessed conduct unbecoming of this sport and something that should never happen at all," the club said.
