EZY Airlines Launches Regional Air Connectivity for High-Value Travelers
EZY Airlines unveiled a Regional Air Connectivity strategy, planning to use ATR 72-600 aircraft to link U-Tapao with destinations such as Surat Thani, Krabi, and Khon Kaen, targeting high‑value travelers. The airline will launch pilot routes from U-Tapao to Hua Hin and Surat Thani in late 2026 and seeks strategic partners to expand the network and support regional tourism and economic growth.
EZY Airlines announced its strategy to become a Regional Air Connectivity Platform, aiming to create a flight network linking major and secondary cities to serve high-value travelers. The airline will launch pilot routes from U-Tapao to Hua Hin and U-Tapao to Surat Thani, while seeking strategic partners to develop and expand routes and the aviation network, as well as generate long-term business opportunities and ecosystems.
Thani Tharaphat, Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director of EZY Airlines, said the vision is to serve as a platform that conveniently and quickly connects cities via a Blue Ocean strategy that avoids price competition with mass tourism, instead focusing on travelers with strong purchasing power and frequent travel needs, such as medical and wellness tourists, MICE participants, businesspeople, and international students.
In the regional connectivity dimension, EZY Airlines intends to act as an airline that links regions together and connects major cities to secondary ones, thereby distributing economic and tourism opportunities across various areas. Bringing passengers from major cities to secondary ones will boost spending and generate income for local economies. Therefore, promoting air connectivity requires cooperation from all sectors, especially government support, to develop flight routes and create an efficient, interconnected transportation system that will lead to regional income distribution and sustainable economic growth.
For its target market, EZY Airlines focuses on connecting major airports with high numbers of foreign tourists—such as Phuket, Krabi, and Chiang Mai—to secondary airports and cities with tourism and economic potential, including Khon Kaen, Surat Thani, and Mae Hong Son, to build a region‑to‑region travel network and systematically shift tourists and revenue from major hubs to secondary destinations.
In the initial phase, expected around October 2026, EZY Airlines plans to commence service on the U‑Tapao–Hua Hin and U‑Tapao–Surat Thani routes, linking tourist‑rich cities and offering new travel options. The U‑Tapao–Surat Thani route will also provide connections to sea‑tourism destinations via speedboat services to Samui, Phangan, and Tao islands, while the Hua Hin–U‑Tapao route will ease travel for Hua Hin visitors to Pattaya and the eastern region, especially during the November‑December tourism events and activities.
In the second phase, slated for mid‑2027, EZY Airlines intends to introduce ATR 72‑600 aircraft to expand the domestic network between major and secondary cities, using U‑Tapao as its base of operation and continuing development.
