Phetchaburi – Torrential rain in Khao Yoi district has sent floodwaters rushing through villages, submerging homes and displacing residents. On 12 October 2026, Deputy Governor Pakhaphas Songwathanayut, together with Police Major General Kanich Ewamsoad, local officials and military units, mobilised over 100 rescue personnel to deliver food, drinking water, relief kits and medicine to affected communities in Bang Khem sub‑district, where more than 300 households have been hit and farmland extensively damaged. Authorities are preparing to declare nine sub‑districts and 46 villages as disaster zones and to verify whether they qualify for the National Catastrophe Insurance Scheme, which would provide an immediate 10,000‑baht payout per household, with additional compensation up to 100,000 baht based on actual losses.
