Heavy Rain Floods Seven Districts in Phichit, 274 Homes Submerged
Heavy rains have flooded seven districts across Phichit province, submerging 274 homes and affecting 1,200 rai of farmland as water levels continue to rise from upstream areas.
September 24 — Sukannya Tonthun, director of the Phichit Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, reported that heavy continuous rain across Phichit and neighboring areas has triggered flash floods affecting seven districts. The affected areas are Wachirbarami District (four subdistricts, 20 villages, 58 homes flooded), Samngam District (two subdistricts, seven villages, 68 homes flooded), Pothabhaichang District (two subdistricts, three villages, four homes flooded), Saklek District (one subdistrict, two villages, 350 rai of rice fields flooded), Bangmulnak District (one subdistrict, five villages, 40 homes flooded), Tabkhlao District (one subdistrict, one village, five homes flooded, three roads, one government facility, and one temple damaged), and Dongcharoen District (two subdistricts, 11 villages, 100 homes flooded, 930 rai of rice fields flooded, 13 canal segments, and one government facility and temple damaged). In total, flooding has affected 13 subdistricts, 48 villages, 274 homes, 1,200 rai of farmland, 13 canal segments, and 13 roads. The Wat Wang Hin Phleng School in Tabkhlao District's Khao Sai subdistrict and Huai Puk Witthaya School in Dongcharoen District's Sankhru subdistrict have both been severely flooded. District officials and local leaders have decided to close schools temporarily from September 23–25 to protect children's safety, as water levels continue to rise with additional flow from Chanthaburi and Dong Khui districts in Phetchabun province. Authorities are accelerating relief efforts for affected residents.
