AYUTTHAYA — Two volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation have won widespread praise online after performing CPR on a cat that had stopped breathing after being struck by a pickup truck, successfully reviving the animal in what many viewers described as a miraculous rescue.

A video circulating on social media shows the two rescuers desperately administering first aid to the brown cat. One volunteer supports the animal's head and keeps its airway open while the other performs continuous chest compressions, urging the cat to breathe again.

Kantharak Raitook, 37, a Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteer, said he and fellow rescuer Watcharapol Suporn, 33, were sitting along Bang Nom Kho Sai Nai Road in Moo 5, Bang Nom Kho subdistrict, Sena district, Ayutthaya, when they witnessed a pickup truck hit the cat.

The pair initially intended to move the cat's body off the road to prevent it from being run over again. However, after touching the animal, they noticed it was still warm and bleeding from its mouth and nose, prompting them to immediately apply their emergency rescue training.

The two volunteers took turns performing CPR for about 30 minutes before the cat began breathing again, astonishing everyone at the scene.

A daughter of an acquaintance later volunteered to take the cat to a veterinary hospital for emergency treatment.

Pornkamol Phianphong, 47, who later adopted the cat, said the animal was unable to walk and was still bleeding from its mouth and nose when it arrived at his home. He rushed it to a veterinarian, who said the cat would have a good chance of survival if it made it through the first night.

After receiving treatment and close care, the cat regained consciousness the following morning. Although it was initially unable to walk, its condition gradually improved until it fully recovered and was able to walk and live normally again.

Pornkamol named the approximately two-year-old male cat Boon Rod, meaning "survived through merit," to reflect its remarkable escape from death.

The rescue video has since attracted widespread admiration online, with many praising the two Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers for applying their lifesaving skills to save an animal, ultimately giving Boon Rod a second chance at life.

On July 16, 2025, police from Samroong Tai Station responded to a report of an unconscious person inside a sedan parked in front of Pho Thap Samroong Shrine on the old tram road in Samut Prakan Province. Officers and rescue workers discovered a black sedan with license plate ending in 8469. Inside, they found an elderly woman aged 60–70 years dead in the back seat. The body showed no signs of injury or violence.

Investigators questioned Chana, 61, the car's owner and a pork vendor at Samroong Market. He explained that after closing his stall the previous afternoon, he drove back to his room and parked the car before resting. The next morning, he left his room, unlocked the car, and drove to the parking area. As he was about to walk back to his stall, something brushed against his back. When he turned around, he saw a human foot hanging over the driver's seat and realized it belonged to a dead person, prompting him to alert authorities.

Chana confirmed he had never seen or met the deceased woman before. He stated that he never locks his car because the lock mechanism is broken. He believes the woman may have entered the vehicle while it was parked at a condominium, and he was unaware of her presence until her foot touched his back at the parking area.

On July 15, 2025, Deputy Director-General Dech Lekvichai of the Royal Irrigation Department, together with officials from Regional Irrigation Office 7 under director Prinyachah Katchamat, conducted a field inspection of water conditions in Ubon Ratchathani province. The team, including Wuthichai Sritong (Director of Water Management and Maintenance) and Wasant Khaimani (Director of Machinery Operations), monitored and analyzed water trends in the Mun and Mekong rivers. The inspection aimed to gather data and management strategies to inform planning and align water management approaches with current conditions, ensuring efficient and comprehensive coverage of all scenarios.

The team inspected three key locations:

Location 1: Sirindhon Dam in Sirindhon District, Ubon Ratchathani—currently holding 1,118.64 million cubic meters (56.89% capacity), with usable water of 287.26 million cubic meters (25.31%).

Location 2: Pak Mun Dam in Khong Chiam District, Ubon Ratchathani—current water level at 106.3 meters above mean sea level. At both locations, Akrapol Pothsri, a Level 7 engineer from the Sirindhon Dam Power Plant of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), provided data on water volume, levels, and management strategies for close assessment.

Location 3: Two-Color Rivers Confluence in Khong Chiam District, Ubon Ratchathani—where the Mun and Mekong rivers meet. Current water level in the Mekong at Khong Chiam District stands at 97.83 meters above mean sea level.

The Deputy Director-General instructed Regional Office 7 and its affiliated irrigation projects to closely monitor water conditions and weather forecasts, maintain standby machinery, equipment, and personnel in at-risk areas, and coordinate with all relevant agencies. This preparedness ensures rapid assistance to affected communities and mitigation of potential impacts.

Thai communities have long drawn their identity and character from nature and local resources—plants, vegetables, fruits, and traditional herbs. By developing these resources alongside local knowledge and distinctive craftsmanship, communities can create livelihoods and transform local assets into sustainable income.

PTT Group recognized this potential across Thailand and launched the "Community Smiles" program to expand marketing channels and create opportunities for community products to reach consumers more widely.

Advancing Community Smiles Toward Sustainable Business The Community Smiles program was initiated by PTT Group to support farmers and community entrepreneurs affected by the Covid-19 crisis, serving as a bridge to distribute goods to consumers. It later evolved into a social enterprise model and opened the Community Smiles Official Store at PTT's headquarters. To date, nearly 700 communities have joined the program, offering over 2,000 products.

Four Years of Community Smiles: Four Dimensions of Happiness Happiness Through "Living Well"—Creating jobs, income, and improved quality of life rooted in community foundations. Happiness Through "Pride in Value"—Elevating community wisdom into valued products and stories. Every community product reflects stories, ways of life, and wisdom passed down through generations, fostering pride in what communities possess and sustaining local identity.

Happiness Through "Growing Together"—Uniting all sectors to create shared growth and happiness. Over four years, Community Smiles has grown through cooperation between organizations, communities, and customers. True happiness comes from balanced growth together, and every partnership strengthens the community economy and spreads smiles sustainably.

On July 16, 2025, Metropolitan Police Division 3 officers arrested Ratnawalee (surname withheld), 24, and Jariyaporn (surname withheld), 22, in connection with manufacturing and distributing e-cigarettes mixed with etomidate. Police seized 2,936 port-k vaping devices, three liters each of VG and PG base liquids, 27 bottles of VGPG solution, 300 grams of etomidate powder, fruit flavoring concentrates, mixing equipment including magnetic stirrers, beakers, and a digital scale from a house in Nuan Chanthorn subdistrict, Bueng Kum district, Bangkok.

The investigation began after authorities monitored dark web social media and discovered advertisements selling port-k devices to customers in Bangkok entertainment venues or shipped to provinces. On July 15 around 5 p.m., officers spotted the two women carrying boxes from the target house and apprehended them with 400 vaping devices. Further searches revealed large quantities of port-k, liquids, and equipment inside. Both women confessed to producing the devices weekly using a simple formula they called "moo tuu" (refrigerator pork), mixing VG, PG, fruit-flavored liquid concentrate, and etomidate powder. They were paid 20,000 baht per production session and delivered portions to customers across provinces via courier services using phone numbers registered by their employer.

Both suspects face charges of unlawfully manufacturing and distributing Class 2 psychotropic substances (etomidate) for commercial purposes and distribution to the public. They have been handed over to Kokkhram Police Station for legal proceedings.
