Restaurant Owner Delivers Free Hot Pot to Disabled Young Man
A restaurant owner in Kamphaeng Phet delivered free hot pot to a disabled 19-year-old after his sister failed to find a coupon during the eatery's 20th anniversary promotion, moved by their story.
Len Hot Pot Thai Ngam restaurant in Thai Ngam district, Kamphaeng Phet province, launched a 20th anniversary promotion by hiding 300 free hot pot coupons worth 500 baht each across the area for customers to hunt down. The campaign went viral on social media, receiving over 3 million views, and about 120 coupons have been distributed so far.
Juttharat Naktaevi, 27, volunteered to search for a coupon on behalf of her younger half-brother Suthani Naktaevi, 19, who has a severe physical disability affecting his limbs and is unable to help himself. After seeing the campaign, Suthani told his sister how much he wanted to participate like everyone else, but his condition prevented him from traveling. Juttharat had only 100 baht, which she used to buy fuel for her motorcycle before driving over 39 kilometers to search. She was unable to find a coupon in time and returned home disappointed.
Juttharat then messaged Samad Gledchin, 39, the restaurant owner known as "Geng," explaining her brother's story and his dream to eat hot pot like other participants. The owner responded that he would deliver the meal directly to their home. Suthani was overjoyed and said he looked forward to eating his fill and thanking the restaurant for fulfilling his dream.
Juttharat explained that her brother wanted hot pot badly but she lacked the money to buy it, so she used her 100 baht for fuel and drove out hunting for the coupon, though unsuccessfully. When she learned the restaurant owner would deliver hot pot to their home, she felt happy and deeply grateful to Len Hot Pot Thai Ngam for making her brother's dream come true.
Suthani said that after seeing others hunting for coupons, he desperately wanted to participate and eat hot pot, but his physical condition made it impossible. He asked his sister to go instead, but she couldn't find a coupon. When owner Geng brought hot pot to their home, he felt very happy and determined to enjoy it thoroughly. He also expressed thanks to the restaurant for their kindness in making his dream come true.
Geng stated that after learning about the 19-year-old disabled young man's story—how he wanted to participate in the campaign but couldn't travel, and how his sister went as his representative but failed to find a coupon—he decided to deliver the hot pot meal to the boy's home so he could enjoy free hot pot as he had hoped. Additionally, supporters brought supplies and 4,000 baht in cash to contribute to the family.
