The attack killed five soldiers immediately and wounded six civilians.

Authorities conducted intensive investigations around the clock and made significant progress. A court approved an arrest warrant for one suspect, Azizan from Amphoe Janae, Narathiwat, under warrant number 439/2569 issued by Rangae Police Station, charged with shooting and throwing explosives at the Bukit Sami checkpoint.

Deep background checks revealed the suspect is a significant offender with two active warrants. He was previously wanted under warrant number 592/2568 from Sungai Kolok Police Station in connection with a shooting and bombing incident in the Sungai Kolok Municipality area on March 8, 2024. A second person from Amphoe Saiburi, Pattani, believed to be involved, is being held for questioning at the 46th Special Operations Battalion interrogation center in Narathiwat Province.
