Roadside Bombing Kills One Ranger Officer, Injures Four Soldiers and Civilians
A roadside bomb killed one ranger sergeant and injured four others near Ban Mai Fad in Narathiwat's Waeng District on May 11, with assailants targeting a Royal Thai Rangers patrol convoy on Highway 4057.
On May 11, 2025, assailants detonated a roadside bomb targeting a Royal Thai Rangers patrol convoy on Highway 4057 near Ban Mai Fad in Kayukhala Subdistrict, Waeng District, Narathiwat Province. The attack occurred as rangers from the 11th Special Forces Unit, Ranger Operations Squadron 1106, were en route to pick up a work team. As the convoy approached an area before the White Water Bridge in Ban Nuakhaew, the assailants detonated the explosive, immediately injuring three rangers: Sergeant Major Komkrit Ritthapath, Sergeant Adisorn Kambunchuan, and Petty Officer Phongsakorn Saenbunmi. They were transported to Sungaikolok Hospital. Security forces cordoned off the blast site to allow bomb disposal units (EOD) and forensic teams to conduct an investigation. Sergeant Adisorn Kambunchuan later died from his injuries. Additionally, two civilians were wounded: Niphattapond Tiaocheruanthum and Asakkhanon Aew.
