Bomb Attack on Volunteer Guard Truck Kills Two, Injures 16

September 18, 2026 — Buunchuan Homyamyen, Governor of Narathiwat, visited wounded members of the Volunteer Border Guard force who were injured when assailants planted a bomb on a six-wheel truck in Rom Thai subdistrict, Sukirin district. The blast killed two people and injured 16 others.

The Governor instructed all relevant agencies to provide full support in all areas, including medical care for the injured, assistance and compensation for the families of the deceased and affected persons, and protection of their rights and benefits. He also ordered security forces to expedite evidence collection from the scene, pursue the perpetrators, and proceed with legal action. Security measures in the area have been strengthened to prevent further incidents and reduce risk to officials and civilians.
