Sanlao Bar has opened in Bangkok’s Ekkamai district, offering nonstop Isan music, molam performances and authentic Isan food. Co‑founders Boot Jakrapun Lamphon and Hia Noi say the venue aims to become a new landmark for molam lovers, noting strong foreign interest after just a soft opening. They highlight reasonable prices and a welcoming atmosphere that appeals to all ages.
The venue aims to please fun-seeking Isan fans to the fullest. Sanlao Bar, located in the heart of Ekkamai, delivers nonstop Isan music and molam shows paired with genuine Isan food, hoping to become a new hotspot for molam aficionados downtown. Hia Noi Sutthichai Intronprom shared his excitement, saying they invested heavily, especially in rent, and were unsure if others would share their passion, but after a three‑day trial, foreigners have embraced it, returning repeatedly and enjoying dancing to Isan tunes. He explained that he teamed up with Boot because he admires Boot’s clear identity and approach, seeing molam’s appeal as strong among younger generations. Boot Jakrapun Lamphon said the bar’s highlight is the straightforward showcase of Isan culture—music and folk instruments that Isan people take pride in—while maintaining fair prices so all groups can access the fun. Meanwhile, the song “Won Fan Saen Pleum” has become a request almost every night, sparking cheers and lively atmosphere when played. Sanlao Bar’s music focus is mainly molam, with the option to mix in lukthung per customer request, aiming to create an immediate association with the venue when people think of molam ambiance. Besides music, authentic Isan food is a key selling point, letting guests taste both flavor and atmosphere. The clientele ranges from teenagers, working‑age adults, office workers to young people eager to try a new musical experience; many leave happy and eager to return, showing Isan music’s ability to bring fun and connect people across ages. Boot Jakrapun Lamphon invited Isan compatriots and people from all regions to come experience the charm of molam, Isan culture, and the full‑on fun vibe at Sanlao Bar in central Ekkamai, encouraging everyone to enjoy music and dance and share the spirit of Isan without limits.
