SC Launches Ready to Live Campaign With 72 Model Homes
11 Aug Khaosod

SC Asset Corporation is launching an aggressive second-half marketing strategy, leveraging 72 fully furnished model homes from 32 projects across Bangkok and its suburbs under the "SC Ready to Live" campaign to drive purchasing decisions and accelerate sales amid challenging real estate market conditions.

According to Nattakitti Sirirat, Deputy Managing Director of Marketing Innovation and Design at SC Asset Corporation, the company has developed a large-scale marketing campaign using model homes valued at approximately 2.9 billion baht. The featured homes span Bangkok and surrounding areas, with prices ranging from 5.99 to 135 million baht, and are fully decorated with furniture, lighting, and landscaping to give customers a true sense of actual living conditions.

SC views model homes as a competitive advantage rather than a liability, offering buyers ready-to-occupy properties with complete interior and exterior design work—savings that typically start at 500,000 baht for design services alone. The company has shifted from promoting individual model homes to packaging them as a unified campaign across multiple projects, providing customers with more options and enhancing marketing efficiency.

The campaign, running through September 30, 2025, includes cashback incentives up to 5 million baht depending on individual project terms, plus cleaning and moving services. The first five units sold also receive additional company-specific offers. Beyond the Ready to Live campaign, SC is also implementing a re-launch strategy featuring new home designs in existing projects to refresh its product offerings and better meet customer needs, particularly as mid-to-luxury market segments face intensifying price competition and stagnant sales in certain locations.

Drug-Addled Man Climbs 200-Foot Radio Tower, Rescued After 2 Hours

A drug-addled 48-year-old man climbed a 60-meter radio tower in Buriram while under the influence, scattering complaint papers below before rescue officials persuaded him down after two hours.

Drug-Addled Man Climbs 200-Foot Radio Tower, Rescued After 2 Hours
11 Aug Khaosod

Buriram authorities were alarmed when a 48-year-old man under the influence of drugs climbed a radio transmission tower, scattering flyers that accused him of being harassed. After a two-hour persuasion effort, he was successfully brought down. Police noted the man had undergone drug rehabilitation several times but continued using, ultimately causing his wife to leave him.

On August 11, Buriram City Police and the Sawang Dharma Rescue Unit were alerted by Thai Radio Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS) Buriram that a man had climbed a radio tower and was in danger. Officials, including Sritham Rajkaew, Deputy Governor of Buriram, and Lieutenant Colonel Siriwan Somkitchiri, Deputy Commander of Buriram Provincial Police, rushed to the scene.

They found a man identified as Nanthon, 48, from Koksra village, Kho Wan subdistrict, Lahan Sai district, Buriram, who had climbed halfway up the 120-meter-tall radio tower to a height of 60 meters. Below the tower, officers discovered a Honda Wave motorcycle without Nanthon's seat and a beer-colored liquid in a bottle near the motorcycle's front rack. They also found four attached printed pages that Nanthon had dropped to the ground.

The papers contained what appeared to be grievances stating he had not received assistance from state agencies. The content indicated that his home contained chemical leaks, even near his phone charger, causing family hardship. He claimed he had filed complaints at the Lahan Sai District Office but was instead subjected to a urine test along with his wife, leaving him unsure whom to turn to.

Government officials used megaphones to persuade Nanthon to descend, while rescue units from multiple areas were asked to provide additional airbags due to his height. After more than two hours, Nanthon agreed to come down, much to the relief of the officials on scene.

Nanthon stated he had attempted to file complaints at multiple agencies but was denied, as they dismissed his claims that his family was being exposed to toxins. Fearful for their safety and frustrated by government inaction, he brought along a sample of the toxin in a bottle before climbing the tower out of frustration.

Cheliwan Pothikaet, a Thai PBS staff member who witnessed the incident, reported that Nanthon entered without responding when asked which agency he was from, then quickly climbed the radio tower and refused to come down before authorities were notified.

Sritham Rajkaew, Deputy Governor of Buriram, stated that preliminary background checks revealed Nanthon had been involved with drugs and had a history of mental health treatment. He will be sent for another physical examination.

When asked about Nanthon's claims, Thaiphnom Somserm, Chief of Lahan Sai District, stated that the man was a drug addict who had been sent for rehabilitation multiple times without improvement, and his wife had eventually fled the home. He acknowledged that the Lahan Sai district area is severely affected by crystal methamphetamine.

Chi, Bright, and Koi Star in New Period Drama 'Dang Byler'
11 Aug Khaosod

"A single moment of decision changes everything forever." oneD ORIGINAL's new premium period drama "Dang Byler" tells the story of Dang (Chi Sutthiraks), a young man raised in the slums of Trok Silao by his mother Mae Chom (Gig Suwajanee). He dreams of becoming a police officer to ease his mother's suffering and protect her from social oppression, but fate forces him into the world of gangsters. There he reunites with his old friend Poo (Bright Nopphapat) and fellow gang members Dam (Most Visrut), Laemsing (Max Natthawut), Peik (Big DJ Utharat), and Punya (U Thanakorn), a mentor figure in the underworld.

Dang enters a world filled with friendship, honor, betrayal, and death. His bond with Poo transforms from deep friendship into bitter rivalry, torn apart by work conflicts and their love for Walopa (Koi Oratporn), an ambitious university student. The accumulated rift becomes irreparable, and Poo abandons the gang to join a rival faction. Once best friends, the two become mortal enemies locked in an escalating cycle of violence. Dang desperately seeks an escape from the gangster world, clinging to family and love as his only beacon in darkness, yet finds himself sinking deeper into an inescapable abyss.

Actor Chi Sutthiraks shares his feelings about playing Dang: "There's some pressure, but since this is a fresh interpretation, the character gains new dimensions. The relationships between Dang and his friends, and between Walopa and his mother, are much more layered than the film version because the series has more airtime to explore diverse storylines. I hope it comes out as vivid as the script portrayed." Watch "Dang Byler," where a gangster's path stems not from evil but from choices made without options, premiering Wednesday-Thursday starting August 12 at 8:30 PM on Channel One 31, with reruns available only on the oneD app.

Don Muang Tollway Posts 525B Profit in First Half

Don Muang Tollway reported 525 billion baht net profit in the first half of 2025 despite headwinds from Middle East tensions and high energy costs that reduced traffic volume in the second quarter.

11 Aug Khaosod

DMT Managing Director Sakda Phanwai announced that the company posted total revenue of 1,287.58 billion baht for the first six months of 2025, derived from toll fees, service revenue, and sales of related products, with net profit of 525.16 billion baht. This demonstrates the company's effective cost management and sustained profitability despite external headwinds in the second quarter.

Second-quarter traffic volume reached 95,571 vehicles but was impacted by Middle East tensions, rising energy prices affecting travel costs and living expenses, approximately ten consecutive public holidays, and reduced flight schedules at Suvarnabhumi Airport in May and June due to higher fuel costs, all of which dampened passenger numbers and airport-linked traffic.

The board approved an interim dividend of 0.446 baht per share totaling 526.83 billion baht for the first six months. Following a previous payment of 0.223 baht per share on June 11, 2025, the company will distribute the remaining 0.223 baht per share (263.42 billion baht) with a record date of August 24, 2025, and payment on September 10, 2025.

"Despite external factors in the second quarter—including Middle East developments, energy prices, and extended holidays—DMT maintained efficient cost control and sustained profitability while focusing on new revenue sources for future growth," Sakda said.

Sakda added that the company maintains its 2025 revenue growth target of approximately 10% while closely monitoring economic conditions, energy prices, and traffic trends. DMT is pursuing new business ventures in infrastructure engineering, repair and maintenance, digital payment systems, traffic systems, and related services to diversify revenue streams, reduce reliance on toll fees alone, and capitalize on future government infrastructure investment opportunities.

Montfort College in Chiang Mai locked down security after a student posted shooting threats in a Line chat group on August 11, with police determining the messages were sent as a prank mimicking an online trend.

Shooting Threat on Social Media Prompts Security Lockdown at Chiang Mai School
11 Aug Khaosod

CHIANG MAI — On 11 August 2026, Montfort College in Chiang Mai tightened security after a student allegedly posted a threat in a Line chat group to carry out a shooting at the school. A series of messages were shared with reporters regarding the incident, with students' names anonymized. Among the messages was a student displaying what appeared to be a handgun from a car, followed by discussions in a popular Line group called "Montford Dark Side" where students openly discussed carrying out a shooting.

The threatening messages caused alarm among parents, some of whom contacted the school and travelled there to collect their children. The school coordinated with Mae Ping Police Station, which sent around 20 officers to inspect the campus on 10 August. A teacher at the school said the students responsible had been identified and admitted to sending the messages "out of mischief" and in imitation of an online trend, without expecting it to spread so widely.

On 11 August, police and school staff conducted detailed security checks at the entrance and inspected classrooms. Officers also spoke to students about safety precautions and warning signs. The school said the situation has returned to normal and added that parents concerned for their children's safety may allow them to take leave from school when necessary. The school's student-affairs department coordinated with Mae Ping police investigators to help monitor security.
