Siblings Fulfill Temple Vow With Pig Heads, 1000 Eggs
Two sisters visited Wat Luang Pho Somwang in Nakhon Chai Si to fulfill a vow after receiving a large construction contract, bringing thirty pig heads and a thousand eggs as promised. They also sought lucky numbers from the temple’s Buddha image, receiving the digits three and seven. The temple, known for its towering statue and the preserved body of a former abbot, continues to attract devotees hoping for luck and prosperity.
Wat Luang Pho Somwang, home to a towering 30‑meter Buddha statue in the mara victory pose, sees daily crowds of worshippers who apply gold leaf to the statue’s right hand, pray at an outdoor blessing point, and pay respects to the former abbot Luang Pho Phut whose preserved body lies in a glass coffin. Ms. Ann, who requested anonymity, explained that her older sister runs a construction firm and had asked the temple for a big project. After months of little work due to a sluggish economy, they prayed for a major contract and vowed to offer thirty pig heads and a thousand eggs if their wish came true. Within a month a private company contacted them to sign a building deal, prompting the sisters to return today to redeem their vow. While at the temple they also asked for fortunate numbers, receiving three and seven from the lottery stick, and pledged to donate the offered items to the temple’s foundation for public benefit once they win.
