Singer Kong Huayrai Quits Fan Donations Over Charity Doubts
Singer Kong Huayrai says he stopped accepting fan donations over a year ago after learning a charitable foundation misused the funds, and will now only take performance fees.
Thai singer Kong Huayrai appeared at the Netflix comedy film 'Gang Over' premiere at Paragon Cineplex, Siam Paragon, where he updated fans on his physical and mental health while addressing controversy over donations to a charitable foundation.
When asked about his health, Kong said: 'Terrible. I developed panic attacks watching clips of footballer friends playing hard. I felt scared, wondering why I did it. Did they know how painful surgery is? My mental health collapsed too. It was agonizing. So don't do it — torn ACL, you know.'
On returning to football, he said: 'No. The doctor wants two years. I've just gotten past it. Proper recovery needs at least six months minimum, but I only rested 15 days — locked in no concerts for 15 days, then sat and sang.'
Current symptoms: 'Can't bend it at all. Standing requires weight on my right leg, need a massage gun to loosen the right leg because weight bears there. Left leg shrinks immediately; muscles that existed have atrophied. Now rushing to rebuild.'
Asked about Bella Ranee being questioned over donations to the foundation, Kong said: 'She's famous. Fans saw Bella donate and followed. I thought she should go ahead. But I don't interfere with others — I understand. It's fine, we meet often.'
Did you talk to her? 'Not at all. Mostly talked to my wife; she's close with my wife.'
Did you donate? 'Whatever. Donated with pure intent, then let it go. It's their karma. I decided over a year ago to stop taking money from the stage. I took fans' money and gave it to people who didn't actually use it. Felt guilty. So I said: after this, don't give to me. I'll only take performance fees. No more merit bridge. No more fan donations.'
Does this erode faith? 'I don't think so. Those with intent have intent. It's just one person. Those waiting for help still exist. Did he really help? Everyone helped for real. He did help. But the wrong is wrong; the right we praise. The wrong, he bears his own karma.'
Will you stop accepting donations? 'Direct transfer is best. But now you can't help wondering — direct transfer, you still don't know what they do. Do what you can, everyone. Humans are social animals; it's normal to have compassion. But love yourself first. Make your family happy before helping others. Those wanting to do good — don't lose faith. Keep going.'
