Chiang Rai Man Drowns Saving Woman at Nakhon Nayok Waterfall
A 20-year-old tourist from Chiang Rai drowned on November 2 while rescuing a woman who fell into a swollen waterfall in Nakhon Nayok. After a three-day search involving multiple rescue agencies, his body was found trapped in bamboo debris downstream. The woman and two other friends who also entered the water survived.
A Chiang Rai man visiting a Nakhon Nayok waterfall with friends jumped in to save a woman who had fallen into the fast-flowing water, but then disappeared himself. At 09:30 on November 4, 2026, a multi-agency rescue team using boats from the Sarika Subdistrict Administrative Organization and inflatable rafts located the body of a male tourist stuck in bamboo wreckage mid-stream at the Ban Ta Sut curve in Moo 5, Sarika subdistrict, Mueang district, Nakhon Nayok. The victim was identified as 20-year-old Kimhan, known as Kim, from Chiang Rai. He had been traveling with a group of about ten friends. Earlier, at 11:00 on November 2, the Nakhon Nayok Radio Center received a report of a missing person at a tourist spot in Moo 5, Sarika. Rescue divers from multiple organizations — including the Central Ruamkatanyu Foundation, Nakhon Nayok Ruamkatanyu, Prachinburi Rescue, Saraburi Rescue, Pathum Thani Rescue, Sarika Subdistrict Rescue, and the Ibang Ongkharak team — searched from noon until 00:30 without success. Operations resumed until the body was finally found. Thanakorn (surname withheld), a relative of the deceased, said Kim and three friends had jumped in when a woman in their group slipped into the raging current and screamed for help. They managed to pull her to safety, but Kim apparently exhausted himself and drowned. His body was recovered after three days and sent to Ongkharak Hospital for an autopsy before being released to the family for funeral rites.
