Fearfolks, a studio noted for horror and thriller films, held its "365 Days of Fear: Fearfolks 2027 Line-Up Press Con" to announce a major business direction. The event revealed a lineup of Thai and international titles slated for the first two quarters of 2027 and introduced QVEERFOLKS, a new LGBTQIA+ film brand aimed at expanding the audience base and diversifying content revenue. CEO Hans Odrik Estialbo emphasized building on the studio's genre strengths while broadening the portfolio and forging domestic and international partnerships to bring quality entertainment to Thai viewers.

The slate opens with "Perfect Girl," an international thriller set behind the scenes of the K-pop industry. When a new trainee arrives, mysterious events upend the cutthroat competition among hopefuls. The film stars Thai actress Ally-Ashirya Nitiphan alongside Adeline Rudolph (Mortal Kombat II) and May Hong (K-Pop Demon Hunter), directed by Hong Won-ki with Thai producers Rawin Nurala and Kulthep Nurala, targeting a Q3 2027 theatrical release.

Another highlight is "The Burning Giants," selected for the Orizzonti competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. The mystery unfolds on the Thai-Myanmar border where a toxic fog engulfs the forest, afflicting the Karen people with burn-like lesions from an unseen fire. Starring At-Awat Rattanapinta, Miang-Phakphon Sirongmuang, and Tile-Thannawut Rodphai, directed by Putthipong Arunpheng, with a theatrical date set for March 25, 2027.

The psychological thriller "Someone Special" follows Ren, a young painter harboring hidden violence, who confronts inner demons after meeting a mysterious therapist living upstairs — one who conceals darkness of her own. The film stars Two-Siratro Inthachot, Thaptim-Anrin Thiranthanaphad, and Fern-Supanee Suthiwijitwong, directed by Petong Sakunchai and Ariel Feing, slated for release on February 11, 2027. Footage from both films was screened at the event.

Election Commission Asks Constitutional Court to Limit Supreme Court in Senate Case

The Election Commission voted 5-2 to ask the Constitutional Court to rule on whether the Supreme Court has authority to review Senate candidate qualifications, a move critics call an attempt to block scrutiny of five senators including two from Amnaj Charoen suspected of registering in the wrong occupational group. The decision could have wider implications for previous EC rulings that dismissed complaints against Bhumjaithai Party figures, raising questions about institutional independence and public trust in the oversight system.

EC Petitions Constitutional Court Over Senate Election Authority Dispute

The Election Commission voted 5-2 to petition the Constitutional Court for a ruling on its authority versus the Supreme Court in Senate election disputes, specifically whether EC qualification rulings are final. The move follows the Supreme Court accepting petitions to review 77 Senate candidates, which the EC considers an overreach.
