Sister Discovers Brother Dead After Three-Day Absence

A sister found her 66‑year‑old brother dead inside his home after not seeing him for three days. Police said there were no signs of foul play and the man had hanged himself, apparently stressed after recent flooding damaged his house. The body was sent to Phutthasothon Hospital before being released to the family for religious rites.

Sister grew worried after not seeing her brother for three days, went to check his house and was shocked to find him dead. Police Lieutenant Ratkan Thongthai of Mueang Chachoengsao Police Station said they received the report at 8:30 pm on October 11 and proceeded to the scene with forensic doctors from Phutthasothon Hospital and Chachoengsao rescue volunteers. The incident site was a single‑story wooden house facing a canal, divided by a road. Inside they found the body of 66‑year‑old Mr. Kreik (surname withheld), dressed only in shorts, with no shirt, and no signs of forced entry or injury. The floor still showed dampness from earlier flooding. Kritiya (surname withheld), 59, the deceased’s younger sister, said she last saw her brother in the daytime of October 9; that night she passed by his house and called out but received no answer. She became concerned in the evening after not seeing him for about three days, entered the house and discovered he had hanged himself, then alerted authorities. She added that over the previous four to five days floodwaters from the canal had inundated his home, prompting him to plan to stay with another sister in town, and he had expressed stress but she never thought it would come to this. Officers had the rescue team take the body to Phutthasothon Hospital for examination before handing it over to the family for funeral rites.
