The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) State Enterprise Labor Union has issued a statement demanding fairness in the employee performance evaluation process.

The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) recently underwent a major leadership change with Pornthep Sumanamitr taking the position of SAT Governor.

Most recently, the SAT State Enterprise Labor Union (SAT Union) released a statement via its Facebook page expressing its position and calling for fairness and transparency in the employee performance evaluation process after receiving complaints from members who are SAT employees.

Statement Sports Authority of Thailand State Enterprise Labor Union (SAT Union) Subject: Expression of Position and Demand for Fairness and Transparency in Employee Performance Evaluation Process

Because the SAT Union received complaints from members who are SAT employees regarding the performance evaluation process, the union respects the organization's management authority if operations follow correct criteria and regulations. However, when doubts about fairness arise, the SAT Union must intervene and demand appropriate investigation.

From preliminary information gathering, key observations from the complaints include the use of discretion that may lack clear standards, as well as the use of alleged warning documents that the evaluated employees had never been informed of previously as evidence for evaluation consideration. Such incidents raise serious concerns about transparency and good governance, particularly suspicions about the use of evaluation authority with multiple standards, and the lack of warning steps and opportunities for employees to explain or improve themselves according to proper process, which may affect human resource management standards and organizational credibility.

The SAT Union therefore requests SAT management to take the following actions: 1. Investigate the facts regarding the evaluation process per the complaints in a transparent, fair, unbiased manner and in accordance with correct procedures, including verifying the origin and validity of every document used as evaluation evidence. 2. Review evaluation results through the employee appeal process fairly. 3. Investigate the exercise of authority by relevant supervisors; if inappropriate or unfair actions are found, take disciplinary action seriously per regulations. 4. Review and establish clear performance evaluation standards with employee protection measures to prevent the evaluation process from being used as a tool for harassment or unfair evaluation contrary to regulations in the future.

The SAT Union aims to promote good relations between employer and employees and among employees themselves. It opposes management lacking fairness and abuse of authority that may lead to discrimination within the organization. It believes performance evaluation must be a correct process following standard criteria, not a tool for punishment or unfair impact on employees. It urges those with authority and stakeholders to implement appropriate oversight measures for this process going forward.

The SAT Union will closely monitor this matter and will exercise rights and mechanisms under relevant laws and regulations to protect the rights, dignity, and fairness of all SAT employees. "A good organization is not one where those in power..."
