Student, 15, Arrested With 4,000 Meth Pills in Courier Job
A 15-year-old honor student from Sangkhla Buri was arrested at the Thong Pha Phum bus terminal with 4,038 methamphetamine pills hidden in her hoodie. She said she was paid 2,000 baht to deliver a package during her school break, not knowing it contained drugs. Police are now hunting the syndicate that hired her.
At 11:30 a.m. on October 22, 2026, Pol. Col. Prinya Khraikruan, Superintendent of Thong Pha Phum Police Station, Pol. Lt. Col. Kanisorn Phanbuda, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, Pol. Lt. Col. Kritnut Numchukan, Deputy Superintendent of Crime Suppression, and Pol. Lt. Col. Phawat Thamawiset, Investigator, together with Mr. Anusorn Songsaeng, Thong Pha Phum District Chief, and officers from the Surat Thani Special Operations Unit and Ranger Company 135, apprehended a teenage girl with 4,038 methamphetamine pills.
Acting on a tip that a drug syndicate was using a minor to move narcotics from the Sangkhla Buri border into Thong Pha Phum via a public minivan, police set up surveillance. They avoided stopping the van at the Thong Pha Phum junction checkpoint, instead positioning officers around the bus terminal inside the Thong Pha Phum market to catch the recipient as well.
When the minivan arrived, officers spotted a girl of about 15 wearing a hoodie step down and wait in the area for an extended period. Believing the intended receiver had likely fled, they moved in and arrested her. The drugs, hidden inside her hoodie, totaled one bundle of 4,038 pills. Police also seized a mobile phone and 1,500 baht in cash.
The suspect, identified only as "Ploy" (pseudonym), is a 15-year-old Grade 9 student at a school in Sangkhla Buri district with a near-perfect 4.0 GPA. She told police she took the job during the semester break to earn tuition money and ease her family's financial burden. She worked at a restaurant in Sangkhla Buri and was paid 2,000 baht to deliver the package to the Thong Pha Phum bus station, insisting she did not know it contained methamphetamine.
After initial questioning, she was handed to investigators for further interrogation before legal proceedings. Police plan to expand the investigation to dismantle the syndicate behind the operation.
