Teacher Shot Dead at Kindergarten Center in Chon Buri

Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot ring out at Nong Pla Lai Municipal Child Development Center before Khru Poeul was found dead. Police immediately cordoned off the area and began searching for the armed officer. At 10:30 a.m. on September 9, 2025, Manodt Thipwech, deputy investigation commander at Bang Lamung Police Station, received a report of a person shot with critical injuries inside the school building at Nong Pla Lai Municipal Child Development Center in Nong Pla Lai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri Province. He rushed to the scene with Bang Lamung Station Commander Sarawut Nuchnarat, investigation officers, patrol units, and rescue volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation in Pattaya. At the scene, officers found approximately 50 teachers and preschool students in a state of shock. After checking for safety, personnel evacuated the children from the classroom building. The two-story school building's ground-floor hallway contained the body of Khru Poeul, 48 years old, dressed in a yellow-collared shirt and long pants, with a single gunshot wound to the lower back from a firearm of unknown caliber. Initial investigation revealed that a witness heard one gunshot and, terrified by the sound, nobody dared approach the area. Teachers locked the classroom doors to protect the children. After 20 minutes had passed, when staff ventured out to check, they found Khru Poeul lying in a pool of blood and immediately called police and rescue teams for help. Preliminary reports suggest the shooter may be a romantic partner of Khru Poeul, who worked as an officer at a local police station. Police have cordoned off the area, and Chon Buri Governor Naris Niramaiwong, Bang Lamung District Officer, and Nong Pla Lai Subdistrict Chief were present to oversee the investigation. In the latest update, the suspect, identified as a police sergeant and deputy investigation officer, is barricaded inside his residence approximately 3 kilometers from the school.
