A 19-year-old man known as 'Nong Lheng' apologized but remained defiant after being arrested for assaulting a 27-year-old woman at a traffic light in Bangkok's Ladprao intersection. He claimed he did not see her raise her hand in a wai gesture and denied drug use allegations. Police have charged him with assault, property damage, and drug use, and opposed his bail request.

At 09:40 on October 24, 2026, investigators from Phahon Yothin Police Station arrested Mr. Natthanon, alias 'Nong Lheng', age 19, for assaulting a 27-year-old woman while she was stopped at a red light at the Ladprao 5-way intersection. He was taken to the Phra Nakhon North Court on charges of causing bodily harm, property damage, and drug use. Investigators opposed his bail.

While being led out of the holding room, Nong Lheng told media he wanted to apologize and acknowledged his wrongdoing. He claimed the victim hit his motorcycle first and that he did not realize the driver was a woman or see her wai gesture before attacking. He denied previous violent behavior in Bang Po area and refused to answer questions about drug use or whether he was 'high'.

Before being placed in a police van, he snapped at reporters: 'I just want to apologize to her. Everyone else who's not involved should get out.' He refused to clarify who he meant and looked displeased.

The 27-year-old victim said she learned the suspect had been arrested and questioned at Phahon Yothin Station since the previous night. She thanked media, netizens, and police for the swift arrest. She insisted it was impossible he didn't know a woman was driving, as she had opened her door and raised her hand in a wai to apologize, only to be attacked.

Despite the arrest, she remains traumatized, unable to forget the violence and afraid to be alone. Her left eye injury has become infected and painful; she had a medical exam last night and hasn't slept. Police have not yet arranged for her to identify the suspect or provide additional details.
