Thai Actors Association Officially Launches with Push for Standards

Natt Kijjrit, president of the Thai On-Screen Actor Association (TOSAA), and Nonkul Chanan Santinitthkul, vice president, officially launched the organization at the Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre. The event was attended by actors, entertainment industry workers, producers, directors, legal experts, and government representatives including the secretary of the association, working committee members, advisors, and spokespersons from the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.
The association was established to serve as a central hub for acting professionals, consolidating voices and concerns from the industry to drive development of professional standards and safeguard actors' rights, welfare, safety, and quality of life. A panel discussion titled "Actors and Professional Growth: Standards, Rights, and the Future of Thai Acting" addressed real-world working conditions including working hours and breaks, contracts and agreements, use of performances and actor rights, on-set safety, risk assessment, sensitive scenes, harassment prevention, and physical and mental wellbeing.
Another key goal is to promote acting as a recognized profession requiring continuous skill development, experience, and self-improvement, while establishing learning and training systems for industry professionals. The association intends to collaborate with producers, directors, professional associations, educational institutions, government agencies, and various sectors to create working standards suited to the Thai industry and foster cooperation between on-screen and behind-the-scenes professionals.
TOSAA is now accepting membership to enable actors and related professionals to participate, share perspectives, raise real-world concerns, exchange knowledge, and collectively advance professional standards. The association aims to create a work environment that is "standardized, rights-respecting, safe, and forward-looking" so Thai actors can grow alongside the long-term development of Thailand's entertainment and content industry. Strong professional standards require active participation from industry members themselves, and the association's influence will strengthen as more actors unite to drive change and cooperation across all sectors of the industry.
