Thai AirAsia Resumes Suvarnabhumi Flights to Chiang Mai, Krabi, Phuket
Thai AirAsia has resumed flights from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport to Chiang Mai, Krabi, and Phuket starting October 1, with high passenger loads exceeding 82 percent on the inaugural services. The airline will operate multiple daily frequencies on each route and emphasized the added convenience of using either Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang for Bangkok access. It also noted recent accolades as the world’s best low‑cost airline and new passenger‑focused services.
Thai AirAsia announced it will operate six daily flights to Chiang Mai, two to Krabi, and five to Phuket from Suvarnabhumi, emphasizing convenience for tourists during the peak year‑end travel season. Vichchunnee Kantapeng said the airline and its staff are fully prepared to serve passengers from the airport starting October 1. She highlighted that Thai AirAsia was recently named the world’s best low‑cost airline for the 17th consecutive year by Skytrax and has introduced new services such as special check‑in counters for passengers aged 60 and over, priority baggage handling, and adjacent standard seating when available. The carrier also outlined its domestic flight networks from its four operational bases: Don Mueang offers 22 domestic and 53 international routes; Suvarnabhumi now serves Chiang Mai, Krabi, and Phuket; Chiang Mai connects to nine domestic points and four international destinations; and Phuket provides four domestic routes and one international link to Siem Reap.
