Thai Civil Service Exam Board Voids First Batch of 3,621 Appointments
The Thai Civil Service Exam Board has voided 3,621 local government appointments due to score irregularities, with a complete re-examination of 400,000 answer sheets to be completed within 15 days.
At 11:10 a.m. on July 16, 2025, at the Department of Local Administration, Artsisth Samphantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry, announced the exam results alongside Deputy Permanent Secretary Nirat Pongsitthithawarom and Deputy Director-General Boonprasong Nuan-soai. Following the eighth meeting of the CSEB, the committee passed a resolution to review the cancellation of 5,814 local civil service officials whose test scores showed irregularities.
Artsisth stated that with Nirat now acting as the department's director-general, urgent action is being taken to correct the flawed results. The committee determined that since the department initially announced the results, it has the authority to revoke the appointments immediately. In the first group with clear score irregularities, a meeting will be held on July 17 at 2:00 p.m. to approve the immediate revocation of 3,621 appointments.
Artsisth emphasized that the process will be swift, transparent, and fair. A complete re-examination of approximately 400,000 answer sheets will be conducted within 15 days to re-rank all candidates. The 9,174 innocent candidates whose scores matched the original answer key will have their status clarified and eligibility restored. Once candidates are removed due to fraud, remaining candidates will be re-scored entirely before any new appointments are made.
