Respected Thai director Chananth Somritthi has passed away; his career spanned decades with notable dramas and comedies including "Game Maya" and "Shadows of Longing." Memorial services will be held September 17–20 at Khong Phra Sai Temple
The Thai entertainment world has lost director Chananth Somritthi, widely remembered as a kind and talented filmmaker whose work left a lasting impression on audiences and the industry. A memorial service will be held at Khong Phra Sai Temple, Hall 2, in Nakhon Ratchasima province.
Chananth Somritthi was known for his amiable nature and versatile career spanning comedy, drama, romance, and film. Beginning in 2007, he directed the comedy series "Charm of the Lottery" before moving on to the drama "Branches and Vines" on Channel 3. Over his career, he left behind numerous notable works including "Butterfly of the Sea," "Grandmother with Rosy Cheeks," "Dawn Blessing," "Woman in the Fire," and "Woman of Vengeance."
In 2017, he directed "Game Maya" starring Puttichai Kasetsin, Varattha Nilkhuha, and Kawee Tancharueksa. His final project was "Shadows of Longing," a romantic drama that aired on PPTV HD 36 in 2023.
Beyond his professional achievements, Chananth Somritthi left behind cherished memories with colleagues, actors, and crew members who worked alongside him. Though he has passed, his creative legacy will remain part of Thai entertainment history.
Memorial services are scheduled as follows: September 17, 2026: Water pouring ceremony at 4 p.m., evening chanting at 6 p.m. September 18–19, 2026: Evening chanting at 6 p.m. September 20, 2026: Alms offering at 11 a.m., procession to the crematorium at 2:30 p.m., cremation at 3 p.m.
