The Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara has clarified its handling of the death of Thai national Bawornthat Pengsuk, also known as Hlun Solo, saying it was never directly notified by Georgian police and first received official notification from Georgia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 29 July.

The embassy issued the clarification on 31 July 2026 in a post on its official Facebook page, following questions over its response to the case.

The embassy said an official arrived in Tbilisi at 20:30 on 29 July and immediately went to a Georgian police station. The officer handling the case reportedly said the police station had emailed Georgia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 14 July, asking it to notify Thai authorities.

However, the embassy said it had not previously received any notification directly from Georgian police.

At 11:00 on 30 July, embassy officials met with representatives of Georgia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who formally handed over a notification of Bawornthat's death.

The document was dated 29 July 2026 and written in Georgian, accompanied by an unofficial English translation, the embassy said.

The embassy also asked Georgian authorities to investigate why the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the notification dated 29 July only after the embassy had contacted the ministry on 28 July to inquire about the case, following reports that Bawornthat had gone missing.

The embassy reaffirmed that it had carried out its consular duties carefully, based on reliable information from the authorities of the host country and in accordance with international law, while respecting the privacy rights of the deceased and his family.

In a separate statement, the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara reiterated: "The embassy never received notification from Georgian police and first received notification from Georgia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 29 July."

At a Government House press conference on July 31, 2025, Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaiyachanok Chidchob, speaking as Phuea Thai Party secretary-general, addressed escalating attacks on a ministerial faction called "Luk Thep" and swirling rumors of a cabinet reshuffle. He stated that any cabinet reorganization must fairly evaluate all ministers' performance, not target specific groups, and that he himself must undergo evaluation. He emphasized the current cabinet's focus on delivering quality work for the nation and people.

When asked whether a cabinet adjustment should occur after six months or one year, Chidchob argued that ministers needed more time. Nearly four months into their term, he observed that the cabinet has accomplished substantial work and is systematically addressing emerging issues. He cited structural reforms in energy policy and decisive action on local corruption cases as evidence of meaningful progress, noting that many initiatives remain underway. He believes approximately one year would be appropriate before any reshuffle assessment.

Regarding party coordination, Chidchob confirmed that the party leader has not announced a specific timeline for changes but has made clear to all ministers that performance and results are essential. He noted that as the largest coalition party with talented personnel, ministers must prove their capabilities. When asked about reports of political maneuvering and faction-building, Chidchob said he pays little attention to such speculation, emphasizing that the cabinet is focused on addressing multiple crises and serving the public. He maintained that if ministers perform their duties well, internal political dynamics will not be affected.

The book 'Connect Heart to Dharma: Recitation to Lead Oneself from Suffering' is written by Pradit Chaochareuk and published by Leang Chiang Publishing House for Buddhism, priced at 20 baht. The author explains that most believers in rebirth think the ideal human rebirth is in heaven, but serious Buddhist students learn from the Buddha's teachings that even devas desire rebirth in the human realm, because only humans can develop themselves to escape suffering and eventually reach Nirvana. Decay and ruin trouble everyone, whether in this life or the next, but the fear of spiritual decline is greatest—those who neglect self-protection will experience suffering far worse than any worldly hardship. The Thai Chamber of Commerce chairman said Thailand's exports in June 2025 expanded 20.8% for the 24th consecutive month, reflecting the country's competitive strength in global markets despite uncertainty from geopolitical tensions, trade wars, and major-power policy shifts. First-half 2025 exports grew 17.6% overall.

Although imports grew faster than exports, creating a first-half trade deficit, the chairman cautioned against focusing solely on the deficit figure. Luang Pu Po Thammisiri, the late abbot of Wat Ban Eiad (Wat Bodhi Sri Ban Eiad) in Khon Kaen's Maha Sarakham province, was a revered Buddhist elder of the old school whose reputation rivaled that of Luang Pu Sri Thammasathan of Wat Tai Kosoom and Luang Pu Sun Tikkhapanyo of Wat Ban Sua Goke. The amulet circle of Maha Sarakham produced many blessed objects from his lineage, all highly sought after. The first-edition oval portrait coin, cast in 2499 BE (1956), has been treasured for over 50 years and is said to have been spiritually empowered by Luang Pu Po himself. It was cast exclusively in fire-finished copper. The obverse features a half-length portrait with curved text along the rim reading "Ajarn Po Wat Bodhi Sri Ban Eiad." Because the portrait face resembles a Western person, amulet collectors call it the "foreign-face block"—placing it among Maha Sarakham's most prized rare coins. The reverse bears two rows of sacred syllables: the first reads "A U Ma Mi" and the second "Ma A U Mi," forming a heart mantra said to grant steadfastness and spiritual protection. Some coins show monk signature marks while others do not. According to teacher Promma, a 90-year-old retired instructor from Ban Eiad School, Luang Pu Po performed a solitary blessing ritual over the course of one Buddhist year. When the coins were first created, Luang Pu Po would sign each one personally and distribute them to devotees making merit. As word of the amulet's power spread, large numbers of people traveled daily to the temple to make offerings, but it became impossible to sign every coin on demand—which explains why some lack the signature mark. The exact number cast remains unknown, though estimates place it under 1,000 coins, a remarkably high production figure for that era. From the past to the present, the foreign-face block coin continues to command the highest regard among amulet enthusiasts.
