Thailand's national team seeks to maintain their perfect group stage record against Myanmar on August 8, with coach Anthony Hudson emphasizing focus on the next match rather than looking ahead to potential AFF Cup semi-finals.
Thailand national team coach Anthony Hudson confirmed his respect for all nations they may face in the AFF Cup semi-finals, but emphasized the team must focus on playing match by match. On August 7 at the AFF press room, ahead of the Hyundai A-League 2026 Group B matchday 3, Hudson addressed Thailand's upcoming clash with Myanmar. Thailand enters with a perfect 9 points from three matches, while Myanmar has 6 points from three games. The match will be played at Rajamangala Stadium on August 8 at 8 p.m.
Anthony Hudson stated: "Before discussing tomorrow's match, I want to represent Thailand in expressing our condolences for the tragic loss at Debsirin School in Nonthaburi. We send our sympathy to those affected and wish the injured a speedy recovery."
"Our preparation for the Myanmar match has gone smoothly. Although our players are tired from previous matches, they have recovered well during the rest period and are now fully ready. We must address some disciplinary issues, including yellow card cautions, and monitor injuries as well, since we're still in a pre-season phase. Regarding the semi-finals, we haven't looked that far ahead yet because we're still in the group stage. Our focus is on the match ahead of us. We respect all opponents whether in the group stage or semi-finals. Player rotation is necessary as many may experience fatigue given this is pre-season and the tournament is quite lengthy, so we'll try to utilize everyone in the squad."
"Our team hasn't conceded in this tournament and remains unbeaten for eight consecutive matches. We'll do our best as representatives of our country. Our players have shown full commitment regardless of the lineup, so as coach I must continuously improve player performance. So far, results have been satisfactory for both the coaching staff and players."
"Thailand has wonderful fans. Many followed us to the Philippines in previous matches or to Laos. Having fans cheer in the stadium helps the team greatly. We hope to bring joy to our supporters and encourage everyone to come cheer us on in large numbers."
Meanwhile, striker Chaiyapon Odonn of the Thai national team said: "The atmosphere in our team is very good right now. Everyone is helping each other. Of course, the match against Myanmar will be difficult because they are a good team, but we have a clear goal—to win the group championship."
