Thailand Football Team Returns Home, Prepares for Myanmar Showdown
Thailand's national football team returned home after defeating the Philippines 1-0 in the AFF Cup 2026, improving to a perfect 9 points, and will now prepare for their final group match against Myanmar on August 8.
Thailand's national men's football team, coached by Anthony Hudson, has returned home after securing a 1-0 victory over the Philippines in their third group-stage match of the AFF Cup 2026. Varisara Chootong scored the winning goal, giving Thailand a perfect 9 points from their opening three matches. The team arrived at Suvarnabhumi International Airport on August 5 and will now prepare for their final group match against Myanmar on August 8.
Hudson emphasized the importance of rest and recovery for the players following their demanding trip to the Philippines, where they arrived at 4 a.m. and had only one training session due to difficult field conditions. "The most important thing right now is to let the athletes recover their bodies," Hudson said, adding that he is confident in his squad's ability and wants to create exciting football that brings fans back to support the team.
Team captain Sarachchai Yueyean praised the team's ability to secure three points despite the challenging circumstances, but noted that the tight scheduling and travel logistics made preparation difficult. He suggested that the federation should consider better scheduling to give players more recovery time between matches.
Thailand will have one rest day before resuming training on August 6 at BGTC 3 to prepare for their match against Myanmar on August 8 at 8:00 p.m. at Rajamangala Stadium.
