Thailand Sets Sights on ASEAN Cup 2026 Crown in Indonesia

Thailand's national football team, under coach Anthony Hudson, has departed for Indonesia to pursue the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 Premier Division title. The squad left Suvarnabhumi Airport on September 23 for the tournament running September 26 to October 5.

Hudson is leading 23 players, with Peeraphat Arunkham called in as a replacement for Jonathan Kemdi, who suffered an injury during early training. Hudson said: "We have three days, which should be two full training sessions and one recovery day. This morning's session went very well. Now we just need to travel to Indonesia, recover, and focus on Saturday's match."

Hudson added: "The travel from plane to train is something we adapt to. We don't complain—we just move forward. The important thing is getting through today, letting players sleep fully, and preparing everything needed for tomorrow: training and team meetings. We need to be completely ready and fresh for Saturday's match."

Regarding Kemdi's sudden injury early in training, Hudson said the coach and team were deeply saddened and shocked. He sent personal encouragement and plans to meet Kemdi for a meal after camp to check on his condition. Peeraphat Arunkham expressed gratitude for the opportunity: "I'll try my best and adapt to my teammates for good results. Our goal is to do well and hopefully win the championship for the nation."

Anant Yotsingvali said: "I'm happy every time I'm called to the national team. Although I haven't played in the league, I've trained with my club team. I feel very confident in this camp and want to win and claim the championship."

Thailand is in Group B of the ASEAN Cup 2026. Their schedule is: Pakistan on September 26 at 4 p.m., Vietnam on September 29 at 7:30 p.m., and Philippines on October 2 at 4 p.m. Group winners advance to the final; runners-up contest third place.
