A Huai Yai Station officer has denied claims that he worked with serial murder suspect Thana 'Pong' (age 43), asserting instead that he arrested Pong twice since arriving at the station in 2013. In the first case in mid-2561, officers responded to reports of a woman being held captive in a house in Huai Yai subdistrict; during a second search, they found her hidden under a bed with injuries. Though Pong was arrested, the victim declined to press charges the next day, claiming they were in a relationship.
In October 2561, Pong attempted murder with a firearm and fled, leading officers to track him down and arrest him on October 13 at a rental room in Pong subdistrict after public complaints and the discovery of a court arrest warrant. During interrogation, Pong claimed he threw a .38 caliber revolver into the sea, but searches found no weapon, and he was imprisoned later that year.
After eight years, in mid-June, Pong called the officer to introduce himself, saying he obtained the phone number from a note the officer had left with Pong's father years earlier. The officer immediately reported this and placed Pong under surveillance as a dangerous person. Regarding photographs and phone calls with Pong, the officer explained these occurred during official duties: once when Pong called saying he saw police near a motorcycle repair shop, prompting the officer to call back and arrange a brief meeting at a nearby restaurant to question him; another call was made on orders from the investigation team while Pong was a suspect in a Russian sibling kidnapping case, though the call went unanswered.
