Thai Lawmaker Condemns Attack on Ranger Station in Narathiwat
A Prachathai party MP condemned an armed attack on a ranger checkpoint in Narathiwat that killed several officers, calling for the government to pursue peace dialogue and support victims' families in the troubled southern border region.
On July 22, 2025, Nat Pongpanya Rueangpanniawut, a Prachathai party list MP and party leader, posted on Facebook regarding the armed attack on the Buketa Samee checkpoint in Rangae district, Narathiwat province. He expressed his condolences for the loss of all officers killed at the checkpoint and sent his sympathies to the families of the victims, the injured, and local residents affected by the violence. Pongpanya condemned the actions of insurgent groups and their use of violence against both officials and innocent civilians, stating that such tactics cannot resolve conflicts. He called on the government and Prime Minister to accelerate all measures to quickly defuse the situation, including pursuing and prosecuting those responsible, providing compensation to the affected, and supporting bereaved families. He also emphasized that the government must seriously address the unrest in the southern border provinces through peace dialogue mechanisms and rebuild public confidence in the affected areas. Pongpanya expressed his support for both officials and residents in the region.
