Thai Volleyball Star Carries Flag at Asian Games Opening

Nann Taddao Nuekchaeng expressed pride at being selected to carry the Thai flag at the opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan on September 19. She said it was a great honour and source of pride for both herself and her family, with family members sending congratulatory messages upon hearing the news.

Addressing fan concerns about potential fatigue from attending the opening ceremony while having a quarter-final volleyball match against Indonesia the next morning at 10:00 a.m., Taddao said: "For me, this is a great opportunity. When I was first assigned the role, I didn't yet know the match schedule, so I didn't know what time we'd play. Once the schedule came out showing 10:00 a.m., I knew I had to carry out my flag-bearing duty perfectly. After that, I'll rush back to rest and recover quickly. I don't think there's anything to worry about because I'm an athlete and I know my body is in good condition. I don't think there will be any problems."

Taddao also affirmed that the team's goal remains to win gold. In the quarter-final against Indonesia, the team will not be complacent and will push through to advance. A potential semi-final against China would be another very challenging match, and she asked for everyone's support. The Thai women's volleyball team is scheduled to face Indonesia, ranked second in Group A, in the quarter-final on Sunday, September 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Japan time.
