Man Shot Dead After Confronting Illegal Bikers in Nakhon Si Thammarat
A 37-year-old man in Nakhon Si Thammarat was shot dead after confronting illegal teenage motorcycle racers creating noise disturbance near his home; police are searching for the gang members.
At 11:00 a.m. on September 19, Major Kittchai Krainara, superintendent of Mueang Police Station in Nakhon Si Thammarat, was notified by Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital that a gunshot victim had died. Police and rescue workers proceeded to investigate. The deceased was identified as Tosapol, 37, who had sustained numerous shotgun pellet wounds across his body.
According to the investigation, a group of teenage motorcycle racers had been riding modified bikes loudly on the Nha Phru-Benchama road near Tosapol's home in Mueang District that night, causing severe disturbance to residents. Unable to tolerate the noise, Tosapol stood on the roadside and verbally confronted the riders as they passed. Rather than accepting the rebuke, the gang returned shortly after, fired shotgun pellets at Tosapol, and fled on their motorcycles. He collapsed in a pool of blood and suffered severe injuries. Local residents and rescue foundation staff provided first aid and transported him to Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital, where he died.
The incident stems from a persistent pattern of street racing by teenage motorcycle gangs that has long troubled residents. Tosapol, one of the affected residents, had attempted to stop them by confronting the group. Police are intensifying their investigation to locate and prosecute the gang members.
