Thailand Opens Support Center for Athletes at Asian Games
Thailand opened a support center at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, offering Thai athletes sports science services including recovery, nutrition, and conditioning throughout the competition.
On September 19 at the Chunichi Building in Nagoya, Japan, Vanida Pun Saad, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, officially opened a Thai House command center to support Thai athletes competing in the 20th Asian Games with sports science services. The opening was attended by Preeecha Lalun, deputy director of the Sports Excellence and Sports Science Division, and Admiral Abhiwat Sriwardhana, head of the Thai delegation.
Vanida stated that despite some logistical challenges upon arrival in Japan, six months of preparation has left Thai athletes in excellent condition. The Thai House was specifically designed for athletes, offering not only recovery services but also body-conditioning support. The facility provides nutrition and supplementary foods that athletes can take before and after competition. Officials from the Sports Authority of Thailand, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the Thai Olympic Committee are confident that Thai athletes have the potential to exceed their medal targets.
Preeecha explained that Thailand establishes a Thai House for every major sports competition involving Thai athletes. For these Asian Games, the location was carefully selected after reviewing all athlete needs to ensure maximum convenience and support. The facility offers massage therapy for relaxation and recovery, nutritional counseling, supplements, and equipment. A dedicated team and vehicles are also available to support athletes during competition, with round-the-clock recovery services for athletes competing in single-day events.
The Thai House will remain open throughout the games, from September 19 to October 4, to support Thai athletes during the 20th Asian Games.
