Thailand Men's Volleyball Falls to Iran at Asian Games
Thailand's men's volleyball team lost all three sets to Iran at the Asian Games in Japan on September 28, dropping the match 25-18, 25-18, and 25-15. The loss leaves Thailand third in Group B with Iran leading undefeated.
At the 20th Asian Games volleyball competition held September 28 at Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium in Okayama, Japan, Thailand's men's volleyball team, ranked 52nd globally, took on Iran, ranked 19th worldwide and a three-time former champion, in the second match of Group B. Coach Pak Ki Won sent out the starting lineup of Thupprathit Phrapud, Suwit Mahasirirothin, Bunnyrit Wongthor, Kiattaphum Ramsin, Anurak Phannamram, and Chaiwat Thungkham, with libero Nakarin Inthanu.
Thailand's men's team fought hard but could not withstand Iran's strength, losing all three sets consecutively 18–25, 18–25, and 15–25. After two matches played, Thailand sits in third place in the group with 2 points, while Iran leads with a perfect 6 points from two wins.
Thailand's next match in the group stage will be against Kyrgyzstan on September 29 at 8:00 a.m. Thailand time.
