Thailand Offers 2 Million Baht Gold Medal Prize at 2026 Asian Games
Thailand will award 2 million baht to gold medalists at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, with prize money distributed within a week of competition ending.
The Sports Authority of Thailand confirms that athletes winning gold medals at the 20th Asian Games will receive 2,000,000 baht under National Sports Development Fund criteria. The authority said all preparations are complete and prize money will be distributed within seven days of competition ending.
Dr. Kongsakdi Yodmani, director-general of the Sports Authority of Thailand, revealed the readiness of Thailand's athlete contingent for the 20th Asian Games "Aichi-Nagoya 2026" taking place from September 19 to October 4, 2026 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Some athletes have already traveled ahead for training and competition, while others are training domestically and preparing to depart according to schedule.
"The Sports Authority has provided comprehensive support for athlete preparation, including allowances, sports science, nutrition, and psychological care to ensure all athletes are fully ready. There are no budget issues, including prize money. We are prepared to distribute awards according to National Sports Development Fund criteria within seven days of the competition ending," the director-general said. "Athletes can compete with full confidence without worry."
According to National Sports Development Fund criteria, gold medalists receive 2,000,000 baht, silver medalists 1,000,000 baht, and bronze medalists 500,000 baht. Individual or team coaches with no more than six athletes (20 percent) receive 400,000 baht for gold, 200,000 baht for silver, and 100,000 baht for bronze. Team coaches with seven or more athletes (10 percent) receive 200,000 baht for gold, 100,000 baht for silver, and 50,000 baht for bronze. Thai sports federations receive 30 percent of total prize money won by their athletes, up to a maximum of 10,000,000 baht.
