Thailand Awards 197 Million Baht for Asian Games 2026 Medals
Thailand's government has allocated 197.15 million baht in prize money for athletes, coaches and sports associations after the country's medal haul at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. The breakdown includes 138 million baht for athletes, 21.55 million for coaches and 37.6 million for sports associations, based on set rates per medal. Payments will be made within a week of the games' conclusion to motivate the athletes.
Following Thailand's performance at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya 2026, where the team won 12 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals, the Thai government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the National Sports Development Fund and the Sports Authority of Thailand, has estimated prize payments according to set rates: 2 million baht per gold, 1 million per silver and 500,000 per bronze, with coaches receiving 20% and sports associations 30% of the athletes' total awards. The latest figure totals 197,150,000 baht, broken down into 138 million for athletes, 21.55 million for coaches and 37.6 million for sports associations. The prize money will be paid within seven days after the competition ends to boost morale, with the athletes' share transferred directly to their bank accounts.
