Thailand Opens Regional Airports to Boost Doi Kham Farm Product Sales
Thailand's transport ministry has opened regional airport retail space for Doi Kham agricultural products to boost farmer income and expand tourist access to high-quality Thai crops and fruits nationwide.
The Ministry of Transport has instructed the Airports Authority of Thailand to open space at regional airports to support Thai agricultural products from Doi Kham, distributing them to tourists nationwide and creating sustainable income for farmers.
Deputy Transport Minister Pattrapong Patprasit revealed this after discussions with Thanid Tansila, managing director of Doi Kham Food Products Company Limited, and Danai Rueangson, director-general of the Airports Authority of Thailand, at the Transport Ministry. Doi Kham had requested consultations on distribution channels for the company's products within regional airport spaces to create additional income opportunities for Thai farmers.
Thai agricultural products—including crops, vegetables, and fruits—are all high quality and highly favored by both Thai and foreign tourists. Therefore, expanding distribution channels in regional airports, which already have established networks and infrastructure, will increase marketing opportunities, broaden sales channels, and generate stable income for farming communities while improving quality of life in rural areas.
The Transport Ministry prioritizes development of transport infrastructure to enhance public welfare, with regional airports serving as a crucial mechanism for driving local economic growth under the "Airport for Regional Development" policy.
Under the current government led by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, the Airports Authority of Thailand has been tasked with coordinating detailed discussions with Doi Kham Food Products Company Limited to identify suitable regional airports and to ensure all relevant rules, regulations, and requirements are strictly observed moving forward.
