The department said the unsettled weather will bring thunderstorms, strong winds, hail and heavy to very heavy rain in various regions from 9 to 13 October 2026. It attributed the conditions to a high‑pressure system or cool air mass from China spreading over upper Thailand during the late rainy season, while the monsoon trough lies across the upper South and the southwest monsoon continues over the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf of Thailand.
The forecast lists provinces expected to see heavy rain each day. On 9 October, heavy rain is expected in the Northeast (Amnat Charoen, Surin, Si Sa Ket, Ubon Ratchathani), the East (Chanthaburi, Trat) and the South (Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla). On 10 October, very heavy rain is forecast for the East (Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat) and heavy rain across the North, Northeast, Central, East and much of the South, including Bangkok and surrounding provinces. On 11 October, very heavy rain is expected in Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan, with heavy rain in the North, Central, East and South, reaching as far as Narathiwat, Ranong, Krabi, Trang and Satun. On 12 October, heavy rain is forecast for central provinces around Bangkok and extensive southern areas, including Yala and Narathiwat. On 13 October, heavy rain is expected in the southern provinces of Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Songkhla, Yala, Narathiwat, Ranong and Satun.
