Officials Retrieve Over 2,000 Flooded Pig Carcasses on Second Day
Officials in Prachinburi province are on the second day of retrieving over 2,000 pig carcasses from a flood‑affected farm to prevent disease outbreaks. Using flat‑bottomed boats and ropes, they are moving the carcasses to trucks for disposal while also distributing drinking water and evacuating residents, including the elderly and disabled, to safe shelters. The disaster response team said it will keep assisting the area until conditions improve.
The operation continued on its second day, with officials using three flat‑bottomed boats to transport the pig carcasses from the farm to waiting trucks. Because of the large number of dead animals, workers had to bind the carcasses in groups of ten to twenty with rope before pulling them over a distance of more than one kilometre to the road. On the same day, in Bang Kaboa sub‑district of Ban Sang district, the Khon Kaen Region 6 centre dispatched flood‑evacuation vehicles to fetch 12,000 bottles of drinking water from a nearby village for stockpiling and distribution to flood‑affected residents. The vehicles also helped move villagers who had difficulty reaching their homes, as well as bedridden patients and disabled persons, to safe shelters and evacuation centres. Sirisak Sukhorajat, director of the Region 6 Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centre, said the team had been providing support in Prachinburi for eleven days and that many localities were still experiencing flood impacts, requiring continued assistance until the situation improves.
