GrabFood surpassed 20 million orders under the Thai Help Thai Plus (60/40) stimulus program, more than doubling average sales for participating restaurants. Bangkok leads in platform usage, while provinces like Maha Sarakham and Hat Yai show the highest growth rates. Grab also reported widespread adoption of its free AI assistant, linking regular use to a 20% sales increase for restaurants.
Grab announced the success of the GrabFood x Thai Help Thai Plus (60/40) program, with more than 20 million food orders placed through participating restaurants, driving average sales growth of over 200%. Jantsuda Thananitayayudom, Managing Director of Grab Thailand, said the initiative has been well received, with the number of participating restaurants up more than 40% and average sales more than doubling. Bangkok leads in usage of the platform, followed by Chonburi, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai and Nakhon Ratchasima, while the highest growth rates are seen in Maha Sarakham, Hua Hin, Hat Yai (Songkhla), Phayao and Nakhon Pathom, with Maha Sarakham up 2.5 times. The most ordered food types via the subsidy are street‑style dishes, noodles, rice with curry, fast food and tea‑coffee beverages. Grab will continue the additional round of the Thai Help Thai Plus (60/40) program from October 1 to November 30, 2026 to support economic stimulus and give restaurants ongoing access to customers through delivery channels. Beyond sales support, Grab is pushing the use of AI among restaurant operators by offering the free "Smart AI Assistant" or GrabMerchant AI Assistant via the GrabMerchant app. The feature analyses platform transaction data such as sales, popular menus, peak order times and food‑ordering behaviour to help with business planning, menu management and marketing. Currently over 275,000 restaurants nationwide have trialed GrabMerchant AI, with nearly 55% – or more than 150,000 – using the feature at least once a month, while over 80% of restaurants in the Thai Help Thai Plus (60/40) program use it. Grab said restaurants that regularly use AI see an average sales increase of 20% compared with non‑users, highlighting the role of data and technology in improving business efficiency. Jantsuda Thananitayayudom added that Grab will continue to encourage entrepreneurs, especially SMEs, to combine AI technology with skill development through GrabAcademy to boost restaurant management, marketing and data analysis capabilities, and to support upskilling and reskilling under the Ministry of Finance’s knowledge‑and‑skills development projects. Grab believes future support for restaurant operators will go beyond simply adding sales channels, aiming to integrate technology and data to raise business efficiency, helping restaurants control costs, plan sales, reach customers and generate income more effectively in the long term.
