Thailand Youth Muay Thai Championship Opens Registration
Registration opens for Thailand's 2026 Youth Muay Thai Championships in Ayutthaya, where winners will represent the country at the IFMA Youth World Championships in Greece later that year.
Police General Patchr Rattakul, CEO of Haadthip Public Company Limited and newly appointed chair of the Muay Thai Sports Promotion Working Committee of the Muay Thai Association of Thailand, is launching his three-year strategic plan to develop youth fighters toward future Olympic Games participation. His first major project is the 2026 Thailand Youth Muay Thai Championships, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand Sports Authority, and the National Sports Development Fund. The national competition will determine representatives for the 2026 IFMA Youth World Championships in Olympia, Greece, from November 6-16, 2026.
The tournament will be held at Ayutthaya Hall, Central Plaza shopping center in Ayutthaya Province, from October 16-20, 2026, with total prize money exceeding 1.5 million baht. Competition categories include U-14 (ages 12-13), U-16 (ages 14-15), and U-18 (ages 16-17), divided by gender and weight class, plus a separate traditional wai kru (respect) category in the same three age groups. Male U-14 competitors fight in the 36, 38, 40, and 42 kg divisions; females in 36, 38, and 40 kg. Male U-16 fighters compete at 42, 45, 48, and 51 kg; females at 45, 48, and 51 kg. Male U-18 boxers are divided into 45, 48, 51, and 54 kg; females into 45, 48, and 51 kg.
Champions receive a certificate and 10,000 baht; runners-up get a certificate and 5,000 baht; and third-place finishers (two per division) each receive a certificate and 5,000 baht. Eligible competitors must be registered with the Muay Thai Association of Thailand, a provincial sports association, or a registered muay thai camp recognized by the Muay Thai Association or the Muay Thai Sports Committee under the Muay Thai Sports Act of 1999. Registration opens immediately and closes on October 10, 2026, at the Muay Thai Association of Thailand office (286 Ratchamangalasathan Road, Huamark Subdistrict, Bangkapi District, Bangkok 10240) during business hours (8:30 AM–4:00 PM, excluding public holidays), or by mail at the same address, or by email at muaythaiamtat@gmail.com. A managers' meeting and draw for matchups will be held on October 15, 2026, at Ayutthaya Hall from 1:00–4:00 PM, with competition beginning on October 16.
