Diesel Locomotive Collides With Passenger Train at Bangkok Depot
A diesel locomotive struck a stationary passenger train at Bangkok's Long-Distance Railway Station on September 25, damaging several cars and injuring one employee who received hospital treatment.
On September 25, 2569, the State Railway of Thailand released a statement on an accident involving diesel locomotive number 4025, which struck a passenger train consist of train number 32 on the Hat Yai–Bangkok Amphoe route that was parked within the Long-Distance Railway Station (Phahon Yothin area). The collision resulted in damage to several passenger cars and one employee was injured. Following the incident, the State Railway provided immediate assistance and transported the injured employee to hospital for treatment while closely monitoring their condition. Officials secured the area, assessed the damage, and moved the damaged cars to restore normal operations within the yard as quickly as possible.
The State Railway has ordered relevant units to conduct a thorough investigation into the facts and sequence of events, including work procedures, vehicle movement control, locomotive and equipment condition and readiness, signal systems, and other related systems, to establish the cause based on factual evidence. The incident occurred within the Long-Distance Railway Station operational area and did not affect regular train service or passenger travel. The State Railway affirms that passenger safety, employee safety, and the rail operation system are its highest priorities, and will investigate this incident thoroughly and transparently while ensuring all units strictly comply with safety standards and procedures.
