Thailand Sends Four Para-Taekwondo Athletes to Asian Para Games
Thailand will send four para-taekwondo athletes to the 2026 Asian Para Games in Japan, led by defending gold medalist Khuan Suda Phuangkij, with officials confident the team will medal.
Thailand's para-taekwondo team is ready to compete at the 2026 Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from October 18–24, 2026, sending four athletes led by Khuan Suda Phuangkij, a previous gold medalist preparing to defend her championship title.
Major Nayanapon Phirompakdi, chairman of the Thailand Paralympic Committee, revealed that Thai para-athletes across all 18 sports have been training continuously and are fully prepared. For para-taekwondo specifically, all four athletes have international experience and track records, and he believes they will be able to bring home medals for Thailand.
The Thai para-taekwondo team consists of Khuan Suda Phuangkij, Thanwa Kaenkham, Thanphan Sottishet, and Abhiwipa Puapan. The main hope rests on Khuan Suda, who is preparing to defend her K44 division title (up to 47 kilograms) after winning gold in Hangzhou in 2022. Thanwa, a previous bronze medalist, is ready to return and compete for another medal.
The 2026 Asian Para Games will be held from October 18–24, 2026, awarding a total of 508 gold medals across 18 sports. The para-taekwondo competition will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
