Severe Flooding Cuts Off Chachoengsao Communities
Severe flooding has devastated Chachoengsao province, isolating communities and cutting off communications as authorities conduct emergency rescues using boats and ropes in what residents describe as the worst flooding in 50 years.
Chachoengsao province is experiencing severe flooding, leaving many areas isolated from the outside world with phone and internet service down. Agricultural land has submerged, and residents report this is the worst flooding in 50 years. September 25 – A massive surge of floodwater swept across Highway 3076 in Tha Takliab District this afternoon.
Bunyanak Pornpatchanmash, head of Khlong Takra Subdistrict Administration Organization, has taken personal command of rescue operations due to insufficient personnel. Authorities are using flat-bottomed boats and large vehicles to urgently evacuate vulnerable groups, including elderly and bedridden residents and children.
Residents remain in shock and distress, reporting that in their 50 years of living here, this is the first flood of such magnitude. Multiple villages have become islands surrounded by floodwater, making vehicle access impossible. Phone and internet signals are down, agricultural areas are submerged, and hundreds of cattle and buffalo remain stranded without assistance.
Bunyanak has ordered temporary shelters set up at Khlong Takra Subdistrict Administration headquarters to house families whose homes have been submerged.
In Tha Kradan and Tung Phraya subdistricts of Sanam Chai Khet District, village leaders and rescue teams are saving monks and residents caught by the raging flood. People are being pulled to safety using ropes in desperate conditions. Officials have coordinated with the Provincial Electricity Authority to cut power urgently as multiple residents are clinging to survival while crossing the swollen waters, with rope rescues deployed across the dangerous floodwaters.
