Flash Flood Forces Villagers to Evacuate in Chachoengsao
Heavy rain triggered flash floods in Chachoengsao’s Tha Takiap district on October 2, forcing villagers to evacuate with their mattresses and move belongings to higher ground. Rescue teams, including local officials and military rangers, helped relocate the elderly and children while warning residents to stay out of flooded roads. Authorities are assessing damage and preparing for further flood risks.
At 18:00 on October 2, 2026, a flash flood surged through many communities in Tha Takiap district, Chachoengsao, after heavy rainfall. Rubber plantation farmers were stranded, posting videos on social media and informing village heads for help. In villages 23 and 25 (Ban Tha Manaw and Ban Sampran) of Long Takra subdistrict, fast‑moving water eroded roads, leaving residents awaiting assistance. Reporters found Long Takra municipality mayor Boonnak Praphjotthanamet and village head Sa Rotjan Lai Suwan leading officials, locals, and Ranger Unit 1306 in evacuation efforts and warning lower areas to safeguard property. Another affected spot is the community market at Ban Nong Fak Yaang and Ban Kan Gluaymai, where villagers panicked as floodwaters rose. Village head Mina Duangsan of Moo 5 Ban Nong Fak Yaang coordinated leaders, brought a grader to divert water, urged publicity to move vehicles and belongings uphill, and prohibited vehicles from crossing the flood. Villager Wachai Charoensri described carrying his mattress through the current to escape his home about 300 meters down a village alley, lamenting that he had just repaired his refrigerator and electrical appliances hoping to use them, but the flood struck again before he could benefit. Leaders have set up a watch team to assess damage the following day.
