Biew Phuriphol Bunyasourn, a 20-year-old Thai national sprinter, qualified for the men's 100-meter final at the 20th Asian Games after winning his semifinal heat with a time of 9.91 seconds, breaking his own previous record and the Asian Games record of 9.92 seconds set by China's Su Bingtian at the 2018 Asian Games. After the race, Biew said: "I'm pleasantly surprised and very happy that I managed to break the record. I'll try not to put pressure on myself. In the final, I'm hoping to run 9.8 seconds, but I won't stress myself out. I'll just run in my own style and do my best."
