Fish Vendor Recovers Land After Officials' Extortion Exposed
A fish vendor has recovered her land after officials allegedly extorted her by reclassifying the property as a forest reserve, with help from the Justice Minister's former secretary who escalated her case to Prime Minister Anutin.
A fish vendor has finally recovered her land after a prolonged legal battle with land officials who demanded payment and left her dealing with a property suddenly reclassified as a permanent forest reserve. The victim had appealed to multiple agencies for justice but received no assistance until Thanakrit Jitraareerut, former secretary to the Justice Minister, assigned Phongpat Katkhunavisit to help. On September 25, 2569, Thanakrit brought the vendor, known as Khun Aum, to file a complaint at the Center for Conflict Resolution under the Interior Ministry, also documenting allegations of inappropriate conduct by an Interior Ministry official who had made disparaging remarks about the case.
Khun Aum, grateful for the resolution, praised Prime Minister Anutin for recognizing and granting her justice, and thanked Thanakrit for not abandoning her, as well as the Interior Ministry staffer and various media figures who helped publicize her plight. She expressed relief that justice, though long delayed, has finally arrived, and emphasized that her recovery of the land documents proved that fairness does exist, even if it comes slowly. Khun Aum acknowledged that without the intervention of Thanakrit and others bringing her case to the Prime Minister's attention, she likely would have lost everything permanently.
