PM Directs Nationwide Flood Readiness From Abroad

Prime Minister Anuthni Charnweerakul has ordered all government agencies to prepare for sudden flooding across the country, particularly in Bangkok and central provinces, with full evacuation, pumping, and staffing readiness. On September 25, 2026, Prime Minister's Secretary Trisuli Trisornkul revealed that the PM and the Interior Ministry are continuously monitoring heavy rainfall situations in multiple areas nationwide, especially Bangkok, its outskirts, and several central provinces, while directing relevant agencies to prepare and care for the public comprehensively. Although the PM is currently abroad having just completed his participation in the 81st UN General Assembly session in New York and economic-investment missions before traveling to London, he continues to monitor domestic conditions and coordinate orders to responsible agencies. He has instructed all units to prepare emergency response plans, civilian evacuation, aid materials, machinery, equipment, water pumps, and personnel to handle flash floods, while coordinating closely with provincial authorities in at-risk areas. The PM requested that all relevant units prepare in all aspects—emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, aid preparation, machinery, equipment, water pumps, and personnel—with seamless coordination and no gaps in service. The Prime Minister's Secretary emphasized that the PM has instructed all ministries and agencies involved in water management—including forecasting, drainage, transportation, public health, disaster relief, and area management—to coordinate fully. Close coordination with provinces is required to ensure continuous public care with no gaps while the PM conducts his overseas mission. His final London leg will include meetings with UK financial, investment, and business sectors to expand Thai trade and investment opportunities before returning on September 27.
