PM Anuthin Monitors Flooding Crisis From London, Returns Tomorrow
PM Anuthin held an urgent remote meeting from London on September 26 to oversee Thailand's flooding crisis, ordering coordinated action across all agencies while he returns tomorrow morning.
Prime Minister Anuthin Charnvirakul, currently on official business in London, convened an urgent remote meeting on September 26 to monitor widespread flooding across Thailand. Deputy Prime Minister Sihasak Phuangketkaew and other senior ministers, including Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanpharaphot, Digital Economy Minister Chaichanok Chidchob, and officials from the Meteorological Department, National Water Resources Office, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and provincial governors from affected areas participated via video conference.
Anuthin emphasized that despite being abroad, he remains closely tracking the crisis and expressed deep concern for affected citizens. He stressed the need for rapid, coordinated response and ordered all agencies to work as a single team without territorial divisions. Anuthin outlined the complexity of the situation, noting that water management must be viewed holistically, considering rainfall, water accumulation, upstream flows, and each area's drainage capacity.
The Prime Minister called for seamless coordination between meteorological, water, disaster prevention, transport, and rescue agencies, with particular focus on vulnerable areas and high-risk zones. He emphasized that citizens need timely, accurate information, clear warnings, identified evacuation routes, and accessible assistance. Anuthin demanded clear outcomes from the meeting specifying which areas require monitoring, agency responsibilities, resource deployment, and contingency protocols. He will return to Thailand on September 27 at 8:00 a.m.
